For some time now, Elkan Wijnberg, the founder of Adin antique jewellery, has been toying with the idea of setting up a budget certification company for certifying gemstones and antique, vintage or modern jewellery, watches and diamonds. A customised certification service, that allows customers to choose how much information they need and to pay a proportional fee.
This is an innovative, tailored approach that is in direct contrast to the current service provided by many other certification companies, where for instance the customer pays more depending on the size of the stone. However, the bigger the stone, the easier it is to see and to authenticate. So, Elkan finds this illogical. The high cost of these certificates is disguised with a lot of rigmarole and unnecessary extras in terms of presentation. The customer also gets and pays for much more information than is usually necessary. The only circumstance in which this system might add value is when it concerns very expensive stones. However, we believe the customer should have the freedom to choose whether they wish to pay the surcharge for this prestige.
Our certification concept is comparable to the approach used by low-cost airlines: Not so long ago, it was inconceivable, but people can now opt for an extremely cheap flight. The basic offer gives you a reasonable level of comfort and customers can then supplement the simple basic offer if they wish, by paying an additional fee for more leg room or an additional luggage allowance, for example. The customer accepts the basic offer at the low price because the end-goal and reliability are guaranteed, namely safe transport from A to B.
IJGC recognises this as an honest and affordable approach and has therefore applied the concept to certification: We guarantee very thorough and reliable basic certification of gemstones, jewellery watches and diamonds at a low, fair price. Naturally, for an additional fee we can provide the same extra information as other certification companies, or we can offer a more extensive service if desired. For example, we can also date most items which could add to their value. On our website's service page, we help our customers to determine the minimum information necessary for their specific situation. So you won't pay too much with IJGC.
Our service is currently still limited to a selective customer base. But we are expecting to roll this out to the general public by March 2018. If you would like to receive notification of the launch date nearer the time, please send an e-mail to info@ijgc-worldwide.com.
